Hello first grade families! My name is Beth Ridge and I am very excited to be teaching your child this year! I taught Kindergarten at the end of the 2017-2018 school year at Timber Creek Elementary. This will be my fifth year teaching first grade at TC!
I was born in Kansas City but moved to a northern suburb of Chicago when I was eight years old. My parents and both of my sisters still live in Chicago. I got engaged last summer to my best friend, Alex, who I actually met in second grade. We will be getting married at the end of September. I have a dog named Tunie B. Jones (T or TT). We rescued her and she is the sweetest pup I have ever met!
I graduated from the University of Missouri (MIZ!) with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a minor in leadership and public service, a multicultural certificate, and a Peace Corps certificate. The service aspect of my college education played a huge factor in my love to help others.
I love to travel and experience new cultures, ideas, and places. I taught in Cape Coast, Ghana at the Aboom School for Special Needs Children during the summer of 2014. This experience solidified my love for teaching. I also traveled around Ireland to 12 different cities where we hiked mountains, went to the various cliffs, and experienced the different towns. I try to incorporate travel or different cultures into our morning meetings and read alouds.
I am ecstatic to be teaching first grade this year at Timber Creek and cannot wait to help each student grow as a learner and leader!
